What I love About My Course:
In this course we attend placement in our first semester. It’s a great way to know if the course if for you. UniSA has amazing teaching staff and are very proactive in supporting their students.
What I Find Challenging About My Course:
The reading. So much reading! It’s a heavy course load but with the amount of curriculum we go out to teach it’s no wonder.
None. I have worked since I was 16 when I moved out of home. I have improved my work skills over my life but have always wanted to be a teacher
What I Want To Be When I Grow Up:
A university lecturer and be involved actively in research to improve Aboriginal children’s’ educational outcomes.
My Best Study Tips And Tricks Are:
Be organised. Study a little every night and don’t let anyone tell you that you cannot do it. Take notes in a way that means something to you. Mind maps, diagrams, voice recording, highlighting.
My Biggest Challenge As A Study Mum Has Been:
Balancing sick children and study.
How I Keep Motivated:
I have a quote on my whiteboard above my desk…. If you can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel… go and light the damn thing yourself. “Sara Henderson”
My Best Advice For Other Mums Who Are Considering Studying:
Its never too late. Speak to your partner and keep it real. Studying is no different to a job. It requires you to be there or make time for study. Its ok to take is slow and do less units while the demands of being a mum is there.
